weekend plans?

We plan to be here. My long time favorite, Cary Hudson will be playing along with some local greats outside The Kessler in Oak Cliff. Read below for some info from The Kessler. I'm very excited about introducing my girls to Cary live as I count Blue Mountain as my first live show (my choice, no folks - Ole Miss circa '94 maybe?) and pretty sure they can lay claim to namesake of My Blue Canoe blog as well. No doubt AJ will be singing along and little L's head will be boppin as usual! Good times! Come join us! Can't, tell us about your plans...

The 1st annual Blues, Bandits & BBQ competition and street festival held Sunday, September 12th!  Oak Cliff has a rich history of famous bluesman from T-Bone Walker to Stevie Ray Vaughan, and our fair share of notorious bandits like Bonnie and Clyde…but what few may have realized is the number of BBQ joints that used to fill the area along Davis and Jefferson Boulevard.
A highlight of the event will be the 1st annual Sustainable & Grass Fed BBQ competition on September 11 & 12, 2010. Teams will be required to cook on-site starting Saturday afternoon. Judging will take place Sunday afternoon – there will be both an ‘official’ winner for each category as well as a ‘People’s Choice’ winner.
We'll have some great blues musicians on hand including Lucky Peterson, Bobby Patterson, Jim Suhler sitting in with Hunter Hendrixson, Ann Armstrong & Steve Hughes.
